VNGRD is a retrospective of the clothing brand born in Milan in 2005 as a natural creative expression of a group of designers and artists who had lived for years at the heart of the city's underground.
Through a naïve, self-taught approach to design and a refusal to obey the commercial mores of a world transitioning from a traditional model to today’s ultra-connected landscape, VNGRD questioned everything and connected many of the people who would later become protagonists of the zeitgeist.
Led by the creative direction of Giorgio Di Salvo, one of the two founders, VNGRD quickly acquired cult status, amassing collaborations with brands such as Stüssy, SUPER, FUCT and Slam Jam, receiving recognition from Kanye West, among others, and planting the seeds that would give birth to the Octopus brand: the tentacle motif actually originated as a VNGRD graphic in 2006.
The book published by Rizzoli New York has 336 pages containing:
A complete archive of the brand's graphic and design production, unpublished pieces and various behind-the-scenes pieces
Contributions by Marcelo Burlon (founder of County of Milan), Virgil Abloh (founder of OFF---WHITE), Erik Brunetti (founder of FUCT), Massimo Torrigiani (founder of Boiler and Fantom), Alessio Ascari (founder of Kaleidoscope), Federico Sarica (Head of Editorial Content, GQ Italia, Editor-in-Chief, Rivista Studio) and many more.
New photoshoots by Francesco Nazardo and Jim C. Nedd
